Biography

In 2000, he stepped into cinema as a documentary director. In 2009, his first feature film “Uzak İhtimal” received numerous awards, including the Best Film Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival and the “Best Director Award” at the Istanbul Film Festival and Adana Golden Boll Film Festival. His second film “Yozgat Blues” had its world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival. “Yozgat Blues” received the ‘Best Film’ award from Adana Golden Boll and Malatya Film Festival and the ‘Best Balkan Film’ award from Sofia Film Festival. “The Announcement” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and received over thirty awards from national and international festivals. In 2022, he directed the contemporary art documentary Crossroads. He directed the 8-part series “Deep Purple” for TABİİ digital platform. He completed the script of his new film “The Society for Burning the Dead” set in 1930s Istanbul.
