Biography

Born in 1986 in Syria, Emir Külal Haznevi moved to Istanbul with his family at a young age. He graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Cinema and Television and is currently studying Philosophy at Anadolu University. In 2015, he founded Saudade Film and produced more than 230 episodes on television. He worked as a project designer, editor and producer for television content such as “İyilik Kulübü”, “Muasır”, “Turkish Jazz Standards Institute”, “Say Say”, “Technology and Art”. He was selected for Prof. Dr. Nezih Orhon's EU Delegation Human Rights Short Film Competition Script Workshop. He completed his first short film “High Altitude or the Strangeness of Things” in July 2021 and the film was screened in many national and international film festivals. His first feature film “11 Stars, Sun and Moon” has so far received the first feature fiction film support from the Ministry of Culture, TRT 12 Punto Script Days pre-purchase award, Pristina Film Festival Post Production Sound Award and was accepted to Zagreb Film Festival's “My First Script” and Montenegro Film Centre's script workshop.

 Emir Külal Haznevi is the Turkish co-producer of Agnieszka Holland's “Green Border / Zielona Granica”, which had its world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival and won the Special Jury Prize, as well as “Svemu dode kraj / It All Ends Here” by Croatian director Rajko Grlic, “Petlja” by Antonio Nuic and “Franz” by Agnieszka Holland.

 Haznevi is a member of the European Film Academy. He is also an accountant member of the Academy's board of directors.
