Biography

Born in 1981, Sinan Sertel graduated from Istanbul Technical University and studied cinema at the New York Film Academy. As a filmmaker, Sinan Sertel has written and directed four short films and two feature films. His first short film Sinyal Yok (2010) premiered at the Busan Film Festival and marked the beginning of a promising career.

Sinan Sertel's first feature film Once Upon A Child (2018) won the Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay awards at the Iran International FICTS Festival. His second feature film, The Hero in Me (2021), competed in prestigious festivals such as Adana International Film Festival, Malatya International Film Festival and Bosphorus International Film Festival and won several awards including Best Director, Best Music and Best Editing.

Sinan Sertel continues his theoretical and practical work in the field of cinema and is preparing to shoot his third feature film Elisa.
